A 87% of charter bus companies require some form of deposit. The average amount of those deposits is $132.87, or 22% of the total.
Q When is the final payment due?
A Typically, after the trip is complete.

A Most companies allow you to cancel 14 - 30 days without penalty.
Q How soon do I need to book?
A Technically you can reserve a bus right up until the day of travel, but to ensure availability, at least 21 days in advance.
Q Do I need to tip the bus operator?
A The standard gratuity is 10%.
Q Do I pay for parking tolls & other fees?
A A majority of bus companies include these fees in their initial quote, but some companies separate them, and have you pay as the fees are incurred. Just be sure to ask if these fees are included or are separate before booking.
Q Do I book the hotel room for the bus operator?
A Yes, for overnight trips, it is customary, to book the operators hotel room, but most hotels will comp the bus operators room (provide the room for free) when you book rooms for large groups. Ask someone in group sales at the hotel to ensure the operators rooms gets comped.
Q Is alcohol or smoking allowed?
A More than half of bus companies allow alcohol with a refundable deposit of typically $150.00, and only a few allow smoking.
Q Can I purchase just 1 or 2 seats for a trip?
A No, BusRates.com only lists bus companies that charter the entire bus. Greyhound.com provides single passenger tickets.
Q I have a CDL license, can I charter a bus without an operator?
A No, the bus owners insurance policy does not allow it.
